Can You Get Student Loans With No Credit History?

Everyone will agree that education is expensive. Unless you are filthy rich, you need a loan to cover all the expenses and put yourself through college. However, to get student loans or any other loan for that matter, you need to have a good credit report and a sound credit history. But what if you don’t have a credit history at all, let alone having bad credit? Such a thing is not unheard of and therefore, many solutions and credit advice is available to tackle this situation.

The first thing to do is - find a lender who will give you a student loan without a credit history. There are lenders who do so. But be sure that these types of lenders charge heavy rate of interest. This brings you to the point of having to choose between the education of your child or creating a credit history first. You don’t have to leave education in pursuit of a credit history.

Although the task is difficult, it is not impossible to accomplish. Rather than trying to find a private lender who offers you student loans with high interest rates, you must try and approach the federal government for the loan. The Federal government offers loans to students and without any co-signer, even if you have a bad credit.

Another option is to speak to lenders who offer student loans to people without any credit history. After you receive quotes, compare them so that you can know which lender charges high rates of interest. A comparison of the offers will help you to make the right choice. Try to negotiate so that you get a good deal.

It is always a good idea to start building your credit history at an early age. Ensure that the report is good and your score is in good condition too. If all else fails, you can always find a co-signer with a good credit rating. Lenders give student loans on good terms if you have a co-signer with a good credit report and score.

The initial years are hard but with time, you can setup a payment plan and begin to repay your loan. Do not miss any payments as that will give you a bad credit history. Build up your credit history and work on it to be debt free as soon as possible.
